The final step to earning your driving license is the Practical Driving Test. At Fun Driving School (FDS), we ensure you are fully prepared for every section of the exam to help settle those test-day nerves.
At the start of the test, the examiner will ask you to read a number plate from a distance of approximately 20 meters.
Tip: If you need glasses or contact lenses for driving, make sure you bring them to the test.
The examiner will ask you two vehicle safety questions:
‘Tell Me’ Question: Asked before you start driving (e.g., “How would you check that the headlights are working?”).
‘Show Me’ Question: Asked while you are driving (e.g., “Show me how you would wash and clean the rear windscreen”).
You will be tested on your ability to drive safely in various road and traffic conditions. This includes:
Following road signs and markings.
Proper use of mirrors and signals.
Pulling up at the side of the road and pulling away safely.
You will be asked to complete one of the following maneuvers:
Parallel Park: Backing into a space behind a parked car.
Bay Park: Reversing into or driving forward into a parking bay.
Pull up on the right: Pulling over on the right-hand side of the road, reversing for 2 car lengths, and rejoining the traffic.
For about 20 minutes of the test, you will drive independently by following:
Directions from a Sat Nav.
Or, by following traffic signs.
We provide specific training on the actual Test Roads for Poole, Dorchester, and Yeovil. By practicing on these routes and reviewing our Test Question Paper and videos, you will feel familiar and confident on your big day.
